Axco Airsource Positive Input Ventilation (PIV)
Going beyond traditional input ventilation, the Axco Airsource PIV unit has the facility to source cooler air from outside the building when the temperature in the loft space rises above 25°C.
Product Suitability
Improves Indoor Air Quality
Clean, fresh, filtered air is drawn in from outside, gently ventilating from a central location.
Reduces Condensation and Mould Growth
Moisture laden air is diluted & displaced to control humidity levels around 55%.
Essential for Airtight Homes
There is no need for trickle/window vents which allow draughts if airtightness level is above level 5.
Energy efficient
A BEAM Axco Airsource PIV unit is an energy efficient way to ventilate your home. The system draws air from from the loft during the colder months and during the warmer months when the loft temperature exceeds 25oC from the atmosphere
- Integral pre-heater prevents cold draughts
- Ultra low watt DC motor technology
- No need to open windows for fresh air
Health benefits
As the system is providing clean, fresh, filtered air into the home, there are a number of health benefits due to the improved indoor air quality.
- G4 standard filters remove airborne particles
- Reduce symptoms of asthma & allergies
- Eliminates harmful mould

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some answers to your most frequently asked questions about our mechanical ventilation systems.
How does a Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) system work?
A loft PIV unit draws air from the loft space and once passed through the filter on the unit, pushes the clean air into the house via a ceiling diffuser, typically located in a central location (I.e hallway or landing area). If you have a warm roofspace, an Airsource PIV unit may be required, which draws air in from outside.
Will a PIV system help with mould/condensation in my home?
A PIV system promotes free air circulation and eliminates or reduces surface condensation, which causes mould growth. However, you may need to take other steps to help reduce condensation – check out our top tips for reducing condensation in your home.
Can I install a PIV system myself?
Yes, the system is easily installed and can be supplied on a DIY basis. A 13amp power socket is required near the unit location.
Is it expensive to run?
Because of the low energy fan inside, a PIV unit is inexpensive to run (approximately the equivalent of a 60w lightbulb).
