Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some answers to your most frequently asked questions about our mechanical ventilation systems.
Is a Heat Recovery Ventilation System noisy?
No, a correctly installed and balanced system will not be noisy. During installation, solid smooth flow ducting is used to provide efficient, low velocity air flow which produces less noise. Also, a system from BEAM is fitted with silencers to ensure noise levels remain low throughout the building.
How often do I need to replace the filter on a Heat Recovery Ventilation Unit?
We recommend changing the filter every 12 months to ensure the system continues to function at a high efficiency. The control / display provided with your system will alert you when this needs to be done.
Can my Heat Recovery Unit function as an air conditioning unit?
No, a Heat Recovery Ventilation System is designed to continuously draw fresh, filtered air into the building while extracting any moist, stale air from wetrooms. The heat from the extracted air is then transferred to the fresh incoming air.
On warmer days, the 'Summer Bypass' function can be activated to stop the system recovering heat from the extracted air and boost the supply of fresh air into the building.
Will the indoor air quality in my property be improved?
Studies show there is a direct connection between the quality of air (caused by poor ventilation) and our ability to concentrate and perform productively, as well as the effect poor indoor air quality has on asthma or allergy sufferers. The ventilation unit filters the incoming air to remove pollutants and insects and the constant supply of clean, fresh, warm filtered air reduces symptoms for asthma and allergy sufferers.
