Having completed their new build home in the Co. Antrim countryside in 2018, husband and wife Mark and Emma, have enjoyed the benefits of a Beam Central Vacuum System for 3 years now.
The couple moved in to their forever home just 4 months before their wedding – a busy time indeed! Since then, Emma has documented their home via her Instagram account @shanklyhouse.
The Modern Way to Vacuum a New Build Home
Emma describes their home as traditional with modern elements. With this in mind, a Beam Central Vacuum was one of the first things on the ‘want-list’ for the project. The couple considered the system at the very early stages of the build process. (This is something we recommend, as planning is key. Family experience and word of mouth were two of the main reasons Emma chose Beam:
“My mother and father built their home a while back, so I had used it before. My favourite features are the constant suction no matter where you were in the house and the convenience of not having to cart a heavy hoover up and down the stairs. And the vac-pan for the kitchen is great.”

A totally BEAM clean home
A total of 4 vacuum inlets were placed in key areas throughout the new build home so that every room in the house could be reached with the 9m central vacuum hose. In the kitchen, a Vacpan (automatic dustpan) was also built-in for quick everyday cleaning.
A standard feature with a Beam Central Vacuum, the kitchen Vacpan is one of Emma’s favourite parts of the system:
“I really love the handiness of the vacpan for crumbs, and the Beam hoover lifts the smallest of dog hair.”

The power unit was placed in a cupboard within the utility room. It is out of sight yet easy to access and Emma finds it an easy way to keep an eye on whether the bin compartment needs emptied (which is only 1-2 times a year!)
With such a lovely home, Emma was keen to keep it in tip-top shape! Having had the Beam system for a while, she was pleasantly surprised to find that she uses the vacuum for so many areas of her home, making cleaning faster and more convenient:
“I use our beam vacuum everywhere you can think of, it comes with handy tools for all surfaces. We also use it for the car upholstery which is really handy.”
