NC Engineering are an award-winning manufacturer of bespoke machinery for the construction, transport, forestry, and agricultural industries, among many others. Driven by their desire for continuous improvements to their processes, NC Engineering selected BEAM to design and install a large-scale welding fume Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) extraction system.

BEAM Engineers carried out a site survey and developed a practical solution to suit the needs of NC Engineering. The design consisted of over 30 articulated extract arms to be installed, each with a reach of up to 6m to cover the needs of such a diverse manufacturer.

Smart Energy-Efficient Controls

Energy-efficiency is a primary concern for many businesses, including NC Engineering. BEAM have designed a smart demand-controlled LEV system to achieve maximum efficiency. By incorporating energy-efficient Variable Speed Drives (VSD’s), the energy consumption is directly linked to the number of simultaneous operators, saving energy and cutting costs.

Space-Saving Design

BEAM’s unique welding extract arms are double articulated – this means they can fold completely flat against the wall to save space in a busy work environment. This was an important consideration for NC Engineering as they needed to retain unimpeded access to overhead cranes throughout the site.
